Angling for new ideas & hot tips…
meet the pros!

Fishing for fabulous family entertainment
Be reeled in hook, line and sinker by the TAKE A KID FISHING WORKSHOPS for all novice angler and interested new anglers at the 2011 National Boat Show & Dive Expo.
The theme of this year’s Rapala VMC Fishing for the Future workshops is “Take a kid fishing” and they’re all about casting a line for fun – with practical demonstrations taking place at a custom-built 30m by 5m dam that will be set up outside the expo venue, with seating alongside for visitors.

Bring the kids, bring your mates and have a whale of a time trying your hand at all types of fishing activity from rock and surf to deep sea; from bass angling and specimen angling to bank angling.
Learn from the experts how to land the big one! During the talks South Africa’s best anglers will provide a brief introduction to the ins and outs of rods, reels, lines, knots, lures and hooks and will share their knowledge about lure and bait rigging, knots, casting and trolling.

Each demonstration will be extremely hands-on, more practical and less theoretical: attendees will be divided into groups to concentrate on specific facets of the fishing topic under discussion, before trying out their new found skills in the outdoor dam under the supervision of the pros.
“Our aim with this year’s show is not to get too technical or theoretical,” explains Rapala VMC’s Paul Borcherds.
“We will be showing attendees how to do something, and then letting them do it themselves. The emphasis is on having fun and getting children and their parents to experience the invigorating family leisure activity that is fishing.”
Among the seasoned experts who will be dishing out their fishing acumen are Gilbert Foxcroft and Peter Nieman (specimen angling); Jumbo Willemse, Fanie de Jong and Casper “Lappies” Labuschagne (bank angling); Barry Wareham, Andrew Pautz and HenniePapenfuss (rock and surf angling); Brad Arthur, Paul Borcherds and Henry Oosthuizen (deep sea angling); and Darryl Quinton, Nick Dubber, Colin Wilmer, Pierre Bosch and Carl Gutzeit(bass angling).
These hands-on workshops will make for superb family entertainment, enhancing visitors’ enjoyment of the National Boat Show and showing novices how much satisfaction is to be had from this outdoor leisure pursuit where the emphasis is on spending quality time out in nature.
