Ensure your fish isn’t ‘the one that got away’
Leisure angling and its related activities already pump billions of rand into the South African economy every year, and new developments in the sport should see even more weekend fishermen casting their lines in anticipation of landing the big one
.
Professional anger and 13-time SA casting champion Hennie Papenfuss says that two new trends are revolutionising saltwater fishing as we know it: vertical jigging and dropshot fishing.
Papenfuss will be sharing his expertise with pros and novices alike during the Rapala VMC Fishing for the Future workshops at the National Boat Show, featuring the Dive Expo, taking place at the Coca-Cola dome at Northgate, Johannesburg, from 13 to 15 August 2010.

Warmer waters for SA scuba diving industry?
A recent Ipsos Markinor survey revealed that South Africans are feeling more positive about their personal economic situation, compared to a year ago.
There’s a more positive feeling about the future too, which hopefully means South Africans will be doing more of what they do best: going out into the wide open waters and enjoying themselves. The National Boat Show, featuring the Dive Expo (NBS) is South Africa’s number one interactive location for the scuba diving industry, and it takes place from 13 – 15 August at the Coca-Cola dome in Northriding Johannesburg.

National Boat Show scoops yet another EXSA Award
The National Boat Show and Dive Expo (NBS), Africa’s premier boating and leisure show, was named Best Trade and Consumer Exhibition in its category at the Exhibition & Event Association of Southern Africa’s (EXSA) annual awards, held on 19 November 2009 at Gallagher Estate.
The award follows NBS being named Best Trade and Consumer Exhibition by EXSA in 2008, and its nomination in the category Best Organiser of the Year in 2009.

When a study was conducted by the SA Deep Sea Angling Association (SADSAA) on the economic impact of sport and recreational angling in South Africa, it revealed some noteworthy statistics.
